Container for milk. Turkana. Kenya. No 100. X.A.18. Original list: "Turkana. Pot. Leather, vegetable fiber, calabash, reed. Woman, girl". Large portable gourd container, characterized by a spherical belly and a long, slightly swollen neck, then flared upwards. The detachable neck also serves as a container for drinking. Everything is held in place with thin leather straps. "Long-necked cow milk container. Most of the neck is a cup. A leather strap makes it easily portable (...). The colors of the containers are red and black mixed from blood and ocher and blood and charchoal" (Fedders , Salvadori. 1977: 32-38). "Turkana women carry akarums, hand carved milk containers based on a gourd prototype, decorated with shells, beads and ocher" (Donovan. 2005: 105)
