Head ornament
Head ornament. Crown. Kikuyu. Kenya. No 44. XI. M.1. Original list: "Kikuyu. Earring. Leather, beads, vegetable fiber. Man". Head necklace made from a thin strip of leather sewn with two rows of small white and blue glass pearls (sometimes green, orange) and then fitted with two assemblies of bracelets made of pink glass pearls held tight by laces in cords vegetable. See "Kikuyu bride" by J. Adamson: "It was extremely difficult to persuade young people to sit for me, for they had no interest in their history, and many were ashamed of it (...) we finally get a girl to pose as a bride; we checked the authenticity of her ornaments against photographs in the Consolata Mission book "(Adamson. 1967: 65):
